  • Abstract
A hand held communications unit had been sold world-wide. One mode of failure was being encountered time and again, but only with products sold into the Middle East. In spite of the difficulty showing that ESD was the cause of the field failures, no other explanation could be sustained. Consequently Chilworth Technology were asked to investigate the problem. The proposed mechanism by which damage may have been occurring is described showing schematically the essential components in the vicinity of the LCD
