Abstract
Intelligent discretes are three terminal power MOSFET devices with small transistors, diodes and resistors added to provide the intelligent device control. These devices are ideal for the automotive electrical system. The authors present these innovative devices, their characteristics and their protection techniques. The fabrication technology, and applications are discussed. Future directions that these types of devices might take are also presented
