Abstract
A statistical model for crosstalk in twisted pair cables is presented, where all individual pair combinations in the cable are modeled separately. The model is realistic because all parameters are based on measurements, and an extensive set of crosstalk measurements will be necessary in order to describe all relevant pair combinations. The model is well suited for simulations of crosstalk, and Monte Carlo simulations in particular. In this paper, the model has been used to calculate the performance for partial crosstalk cancellation in one particular 10-pair cable. The results show that 10 dB crosstalk reduction may be obtained by canceling the approximately 50% of the disturbers both for far end and near end crosstalk
