Abstract :
High-power sources of a broad-band microwave radiation are required in a number of applications, including thermonuclear research, non-equilibrium plasma chemistry, non-linear radar-location, communication technology, etc. Such radiation may be obtained in standard microwave devices randomized by introduction of a non-linear delayed feedback, or in beam-plasma systems. Earlier we reported on realization of a new method of high-power quasi-noise broad-band microwave generation-in an amplitron controlled with RF fields introduced into the cathode-end regions of the interaction space. In this paper a more detailed description of the technique is given together with recently obtained experimental data giving clues for better understanding of mechanisms of a multi-frequency signal generation in amplitron
