Abstract
The author shows that the deceleration of an anti-phase electromagnetic wave in coupled slow-wave structures (CSWS) can exceed the so-called geometric deceleration many times. This can be used for resonant frequency decrease and energy concentration increase. It is also shown that the electric energy and magnetic energy can be split between different regions of a CSWS. In addition to the conventional application as a non-contact input and output in microwave vacuum amplifiers, the CSWS application as electrodes can be very effective in vacuum microelectronic devices with a distributed cathode
