Abstract :
A novel low profile and wideband wide-slot antenna fed with a microstrip-line is proposed. A p-shaped wide-slot is printed on a substrate with a compact size of 16 mm × 16 mm and fed by a simple 50 Ω microstrip transmission line. The antenna is designed for microwave breast imaging that cover the ultra-wideband (UWB) frequency band. The design exhibits more than 70% reflection coefficient at 10 dB with stable radiation pattern at the desired bandwidth. The size reduction offers better array ability and well-suited for breast imaging.
