Abstract :
This paper considers the third generation mobile systems operated in a multiservice traffic environment, including multimedia services to evaluate the performance of the calls for each service, according to their QoS requirement. The behavior of calls for different classes of services in a UMTS network is studied with the variations of the number of calls per service type. Soft handover and call admission control mechanisms are considered. The simulator is developed to exhibit the impact of variation of the size of the active set on the distribution of the number of calls per service type. The obtained value insures the best radio resources and calls management and the best user satisfaction.
