Abstract :
Semantic Web technology aims at facilitating the machine to deal with the resources on the Web. Software agents can be used to discover, select, invoke, compose and monitor Web Services automatically. A significant outcome of the effort is the development of a Web Service Ontology, which is OWL-S. OWL-S uses OWL to build a Web Service Ontology and it can be used to describe what the Service does, how it works and how it is accessed. But OWL-S lacks of an Ontology, which is used to describe the non-functional QoS of Web Service. The main work of this paper is firstly describing the research background and related work of this problem and raises the issue. Then a Web Service Selection Framework based on the QoS Ontology is proposed. In order to illustrate the purpose, an example of Web Services combination selection is given and defeasible logic is used to construct the selection rules. Finally, the framework is compared with the related work.
