  • Abstract
The implementation and detailed detection performance of a direct sequence spread-spectrum, fast code, and frequency acquisition receiver are discussed. This receiver has been established to possess an excellent processing structure when a large number of search intervals are required. This receiver, implemented for use with NASA´s tracking and data relay satellite system (TDRSS), is required to rapidly acquire and track a direct-sequence return signal. Although the performance results given are specifically intended for TDRSS acquisition needs, the general detection probabilities given can be extended to a wide range of potential applications, and in particular, any situation where rapid acquisition is required at low signal-to-noise ratios
