Abstract :
This paper presents a new approach to solve an optimal power flow with security constraints (OPF-SC) problem. The aim is to minimize the operating total cost taking into account: operating and security constraints, and system capacity requirements. The particle swarm optimization technique with reconstruction operators (PSO-RO) has been used as optimization tool. Such operators guarantee searching the optimal solution only in a feasible space, reducing the computation time and improving the quality solution. Results on systems of the open literature are presented.
