Abstract :
This paper reviewed the evolution of the Passive Optical Network (PON) and discussed the viable way of implementation of the next generation optical network, i.e., wavelength-division-multiplexing passive optical networks (WDM-PON). It also presented the designs of the optical components for the WDM-PON.
