Abstract :
Dependence of the nonlinear-optical crystal piezoelectric resonance frequencies on temperature was exploited for detailed investigation of crystal interaction with laser radiation. Nonlinear temperature change of periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) crystal was observed in laser frequency doubling experiment. Optical absorption and heat transfer coefficients were measured for PPLN and lithium triborate (LBO) crystals using notion of crystal equivalent temperature.
