Abstract
Frequency domain methods are invaluable as complements to the time domain ones to analyze electromagnetic transients in power systems. This paper presents an overview of those frequency domain methods most commonly used in this analysis; namely, the Fourier transform, the Laplace transform and the Z-transform. These three methods are presented here in a unified manner.
