Abstract
Summary form only given. We report here the observation of the TE and TM intersubband infrared absorption peaks on GaAs-AlGaAs step multiquantum wells (SMQW) by unpolarized absorption data, and second harmonic generation (SHG) due to intersubband transition in GaAs-AlGaAs SMQW with a waveguiding surface-emitting structure with the propagation orientation perpendicular to the waveguide surface which shows that the nonlinear polarization field for second harmonic generation may be TE as well as TM active
