Abstract :
The development of wideband electrically identical fan-out structure for 60 GHz frontend phased array system in package module is proposed in this paper. For the given IC and antenna configuration on a low-temperature co-fired ceramic substrate, the proposed method is able to minimize the path loss imbalance, phase difference, and crosstalk level between different channels. Result shows that an overall path loss imbalance within ±0.1dB, a phase difference within ±1.5°, and crosstalk between traces below -25dB over 20 to 70 GHz has been achieved for the fan-out design of a 16-element phased array system.
