Abstract
Congestion in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is an important issue. In this paper, a new method is presented to overcome congestion causes. Actually this is a hop-by-hop rate control approach. In our method, queue length of the nodes is monitored continuously. Then, based on a fuzzy inference system, admissible rate for upstream nodes is calculated based upon sensor nodes constraints. This method is simple and adaptable to network conditions. Simulation results show an improvement in the network functionality such as higher utilization, throughput and smaller delay compared to IEEE 802.11.
