  • Abstract
This work presents the design and generic model used for all types of space and temporal objects to propose a flexible modular architecture. However the genericity allows obtaining powerful and completely reusable code. This project based on a free software knowing that the open source software allows: source-code analysis, bugs correction, and support independence. A high-level layer GIS free is proposed. This paradigm is applied on Grass 5.7 that represents a free management tool of the spatial and temporal data. The geographic information system, use many formats, a standard allowing the handling of geographic objects. This standard allows the integration of heterogeneous data. A generic high-level layer of communication representing the system interface is developed using the GML format, an XML-based framework. GML has been designed to uphold the principle of separating content from presentation.
