  • Abstract
The paper presents the concept of reactive and adaptive multimedia object (RAMO), which lays down the foundation of a new approach for implementing the next generation of interactive and immersive multimedia applications. The RAMO concept is an object-oriented approach, which treats the elementary components of a virtual world as self-relying objects and encapsulates their representations and behaviours´ abilities. The RAMO concept introduced in the paper opens a whole range of new content opportunities. For the content creation the RAMO approach provides: new levels of interactivity and immersion; merger of virtual worlds and real worlds; applications based on live and autonomous multimedia objects; content creation based on multimedia objects modelling; content production based on libraries of objects interoperability.
