Abstract :
Single-sided linear induction motor (SLIM) based maglev system can realize levitation and propulsion by controlling the normal force and thrust force independently. For a SLIM, it is difficult to identify the correct parameter for the control of normal and thrust forces because of the longitudinal end and transverse edge effect. This paper presents the finite element method on parameters determinations of SLIM. Based on the parameters obtained, the normal force and thrust force can be controlled precisely by direct thrust control.
