Abstract :
This paper presents a novel method of zooming binary images. An algorithm that utilizes zooming techniques and represents large-dimension 2D binary images on miniature monochrome display screens is presented. An effort has been made to put the display screen to best use for representing the images on such displays by implementation of the zooming techniques very frequently required in microcontroller based industrial embedded systems. This algorithm is capable of scrolling through the large image to bring desired content into view. The image can also be viewed in different zoom scales using this algorithm during run-time. The algorithm is tested on ARM context M3 based handheld with an embedded monochrome graphics display module. Results have shown the use of the prescribed algorithm over other algorithms where the fine details of the image has to be preserved for a monochrome display.
