Abstract
In this paper an the envelope extension method based on grey prediction is proposed to restrain the end effects of empirical mode decomposition (EMD). The extended signal can reflect trend of raw signal envelope amplitudes, this extension method is simple and ideal. Based on improvement of the empirical mode decomposition, EMD decomposition is used to decompose vibration signal of gear transmission system and its marginal spectrum is calculated. The results show that improved empirical mode decomposition based on grey prediction is an effective method.
