Abstract :
This paper proposes a rearrangeable nonblocking network with reduced switching elements. The reduction of the SEs is achieved by eliminating SEs, which is not going to be used by the routing algorithm. The Benes network is rearrangeable nonblocking network, which can realize any arbitrary permutation. Arbitrary size Benes (AS-Benes) network is an extended version of Benes model with the ability to construct arbitrary network size. In optimized arbitrary size Benes (OAS-Benes) network, some of the 2×2 switches are being eliminated by taking advantage that we can always set some of the switches to a straight state rather than the cross state. This paper describes the comparison between Benes networks; AS-Benes network and OAS-Benes network in terms of switch elements used.
