Abstract
Forest plays an important role in regulating the change of climate, such as improving the climatic character and balancing the eco-system. However, researches on microclimate change in desert area are sparse because of the difficulty of observation. In this paper, we employed Wireless Sensor Network technology (WSN) to observe the microclimate changes. 4 sensor nodes recording climate elements were deployed in different micro-environments in a desert area of Shaquanwan, Yanchi, Ningxia. Analysis of microclimate change shows that vegetations in desert area can obviously adjust relative humidity, and can affect soil temperature. This research also demonstrates the advantage of WSN for forest monitoring.
