Abstract
Transmission of information over the mobile radio channel is of a growing interest for the mobile telecommunications systems. By considering the nature of services that will be broadcast, systems have to work at high data rates. These rates can be reached by the use of coding schemes working at high spectral efficiencies and low complexity. In this paper, we present comparisons between trellis coded modulation, bit-interleaved coded modulation and block coded modulation over a correlated Rayleigh fading channel. The 16-QAM modulation is used in order to find a compromise between spectral efficiency and complexity. The results are shown as a function of the interleaving depth versus the channel coherence time and in terms of measured data flow, giving a rough approximation about the decoding complexity
