Abstract
This paper presents details of the behavior of doubly-fed induction generators that are operating at different operation points following system disturbances. Detailed models for doubly-fed induction machine are well known but study based on each individual unit in a wind farm during power system disturbances like fault is not that well reported. When the wind generators are spread over the wind farm, different types of disturbance can result in different impacts experienced by the units. Clustering the units based on coherency of these impacts, to arrive at equivalent model, is proposed in this paper. Case studies are presented to illustrate this approach using DIgSILENT PowerFactory simulations.
