Abstract
This paper proposes a state feedback design method for attenuating severe slugging in multiphase flow pipeline systems. The feedback is designed based on the input-output linearization method, and incorporates the saturation effect on the input. The designed feedback can suppress the slugging phenomena provided some sufficient conditions are satisfied. Finally, checking the conditions lead to the selection of the variable which is `more relevant´ to be controlled.
