Abstract
The availability of very high resolution (VHR) optical sensors, can provide satellite images reaching less than one meter of ground resolution per pixel. It speeds up the development of new techniques addressing change detection applications, in particular, aiming at the damage mapping purpose. The present work is focused on the earthquake of Bam, occurred on 26 December 2003. A pair of VHR optical images, acquired by QuickBird satellite, has been exploited to study the sensitivity of objects textural features with respect to damage levels. In particular, the damage level at single building scale has been considered and different textural parameters have been compared to ground truth data, based on the European Macroseismic Scale 1998 (EMS98). The preliminary results are presented.
