Abstract :
We are currently witnessing the emergence of a new engineering of science that is yielding synthetic DNA, chromosomes, and biology. Thus, biology has been introduced to the virtue of systems thinking. Fundamental to the realization of this advancement is that for over 50 years biology has understood that life is based on ldquobuilding blocksrdquo (i.e. DNA). We contend that for systems we have not found these ldquobuildinb blocksrdquo that will allow us to rely less on reductionism and discovery to understand systems, but move to a more hypothesis-drive and discovery science approach to systems. In this paper we will present our contention that there is a molecular level below general systems Theory that we have not fully discovered or defined, which we have termed systomics, the study of sysDNA. We contend that this line of reasoning will grant us far greater understanding of the nature of a system and its distinction from other systems (e.g. cyber-physical ecosystems) that becomes dasiagenticallypsila grounded perhaps leading to at long last not to a science from systems, but a science of systems.
