Abstract :
As a key part of the nuclear fuel transfer system (FTS), the nuclear fuel upender rotates between vertical and horizontal position for manipulator crane and spent fuel pit crane´s fuel operation during outage period. The nuclear fuel assembly´s load protection is quite significant to ensure no leakage occurs due to accidental forces applied on it. This paper mentions an alternative kind of dynamic load protection technology based on nuclear fuel upender´s load-force modeling. Compared with the traditional load protection technology, this new one has a characteristic of adjusting overload and under load values according to upender´s position so as to provide much more effective protection.
