Abstract
Continuous changes and extensions of enterprise information systems (IS) are the main causes of their fragmentation and redundancy. The notion of service and service-oriented engineering emerges as a prospective approach to deal with IS evolution. The shift form IS to information services systems (ISS) requires to re-think the fundamentals of IS development methods and to re-align them with the brave new ISS development practice. In this paper we analyze this shift and we identify the challenges entailed in the field of IS development methods.
