Abstract :
Irradiation at 193 nm is very attractive because it allows the photoimprinting of Bragg gratings in non-hydrogenated low germanium content fibres, with very high index modulation, approaching 10-3 . We present here a study on photosensitivity and ageing characteristics in germanosilicate fibres at 193 nm and make comparison with those obtained at 240 nm, leading to new insights on the different types of gratings
