  • Abstract
This paper reports the feasibility of photo-inducing gratings structures on POFs (plastic optical fibres) using a phase mask technique. The fibre was exposed to UV laser light at 248 nm through a phase mask and the characteristics of the induced gratings are evaluated and discussed in terms of angular intensity distribution. Finally, applications of POF end gratings to the field of telecommunications and sensors are discussed
