Abstract :
Information flow is one of the main flows in supply chain management. Due to the large uncertainty and dynamic environment of the apparel industry, the apparel supply chain is indeed complex nowadays. It has been found that information inaccuracy and delay largely affect the overall efficiency of the apparel supply chain. Recently a new approach, agent-based technology with the advantages of autonomy, sociality, reactivity and pro-activity has become increasingly powerful in developing complex systems. This paper presents a literature review of the existing theories of agent-based technology and explores the potential application of agent technology in the communication system of apparel supply chain in order to achieve flexible information exchange.
