Abstract :
A 70:1 frequency bandwidth (0.6-42 GHz) four-cup ultra-wideband nested coaxial waveguide feed is designed and analyzed. The performance of the feed, when it illuminates an axially-symmetric paraboloidal reflector, is also presented and discussed. The numerical analysis is rigorously carried out using a body-of-revolution method of moments (MOM) computer code. A circularly polarized coaxial waveguide TE/sub 11/ mode is impressed at the shorted rear of each cup to provide excitation. In practice this circularly polarized TE(11), mode can be produced by four hybrid-excited probes in spatial quadrature and phase opposition.
