  • Abstract
Hybrid and Pure-electric vehicles present many design and optimization challenges from the system perspective. One of these challenges is to effectively interface the high voltage energy storage device, typically the traction battery, with the legacy 12V system. Traditional DC-DC converters can accomplish this function, but require significant space, operate at relative low efficiency and add considerable weight to the vehicle. The Double-Clamp, zero-voltage-switching converter is an innovative product which merges a unique power conversion topology with state-of-the-art packaging in order to achieve unprecedented power density in a lightweight automotive application.
