Abstract :
Protection of distribution system against the lightning is performed by installing overhead ground wires over the phase conductors. This paper analyzes the lightning overvoltage by direct lightning according to the location of overhead ground wires in Korea distribution system. The distribution system is modeled by using EMTP/ATPDraw. The lightning overvoltage is calculated by EMTP/MODELS. In this paper, the overhead ground wires are installed at the various heights in the 22.9kV distribution system. The simulations are performed by changing the location of overhead ground wires and the simulation results are analyzed.
