Abstract :
This paper presents a study about test and validation of two different electrical powertrain systems for a new concept of electrical car. The entire electrical powertrain is composed of the motor and inverter, power battery and vehicle heating. The powertrains are tested by vehicle simulation on an electrical test bench and by vehicle modeling. Vehicle simulation and model are complementary to develop and optimize the electrical powertrain system. Two different motors (induction motor with no cooling system and induction motor with forced air cooling system) are tested with two different power Li-ions battery packs. Energetic consumption, thermal management and vehicle dynamic comparisons are made by driving cycles on both vehicle simulation bench and vehicle model. The best choices about powertrain system and battery for the new electrical car are made.
