Abstract :
We propose a beamforming approach for downlink transmission in frequency division duplex (FDD) cellular systems, using multiple antennas at the base. We show by means of simulations that the downlink inter-cell nulling feature of the proposed system becomes effective if CDMA-style power control is applied in the uplink. The performance of the proposed system is investigated using slow-frequency hopping as well as direct sequence CDMA. We find the results to be promising
