Abstract
Carbon Dioxide wells are used for both injection and production. Injection wells have been used in enhanced oil recovery for many decades. This study opens up opportunities for predicting the downward flow behavior of carbon dioxide in the wellbore. A mathematical model is be developed for pressure-traverse and heat-transfer computations in liquid carbon dioxide injection wells in high temperature formations by solving the governing wellbore equations. The proposed model is based on simultaneous solution of mass and momentum balance in the wellbore and energy balance equation for carbon dioxide in the wellbore and the surrounding formation.
