Abstract
A direct conversion receiver using a novel AGC is presented. This system exhibits important advantages over previous similar receivers and systems. The power consumption of the AGC system is almost negligible. The increase of the noise figure of the whole receiver due to the use of the AGC system is also very low. The simplicity of the proposed system saves space and increases the reliability of the whole receiver. The system is primarily intended for direct conversion receivers for paging but it can be used with most PCS receivers. The system can be implemented using both analog or digital technologies
