Abstract :
The fiber distributed data interface (FDDI) is becoming the standard in high speed data communication. The FDDI concentrator plays an important role in popularizing the FDDI standard as a high speed network. FDDI concentrators can be categorized as workgroup size concentrators and large modular type concentrators used in backbone networks. This paper explains the components inside FDDI concentrators and the differences between workgroup concentrators and modular concentrators
