Abstract
Discusses the average power to distance decay rate, which has been obtained from measured data as well as from simulations. It was observed that it depends on the minimum distance between transmitter and receiver taken for its calculation. When oxygen absorption is considered apart, the decay rate decreases approximately by 0.2 to 0.3 for distances of a few hundreds of metres. The scenario can have a strong influence on the value of the decay rate, specially when changes in street length or width occur; antenna radiation patterns also have a major influence on its value. If the oxygen effect is considered apart, the decay rate should range in [2.0, 2.5], but if it is taken as part of this distance dependence, then the decay rate can be taken in [2.3, 2.8] for distances up to 250 m or in [7.0, 7.5] for distances greater than 1 km, respectively for coverage and interference purposes
