Abstract
This paper presents an analysis of fast fading for the mobile radio channel in the millimetre waveband (60 GHz), by comparing data coming from theory, measurements and simulations. Rice distribution is used as theoretical reference, and the Rice parameter is obtained from measurements by adjusting the experimental and the theoretical cumulative distribution functions; good agreement is obtained between the two cases. An analysis of the level crossing rate is also carried out, the agreement being less favourable than the previous one. Results from a ray-tracing tool are also compared with theory, with good results only for the cumulative distribution function. It seems that Rice distribution can in fact be used to model the fast fading behaviour of this channel, and to describe second order statistical parameters. On the other hand, simulation tools seem to be unable to describe the signal with enough accuracy to obtain good results for second order parameters at specific locations of the scenarios
