Abstract :
Polycyclic musks (PCMs), such as 7-acetyl-1,1,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene (AHTN), which considered as emerging pollutants, were widely used in personal care products as fragrance additive. Eisenia foetida were exposed on contaminated filter paper by AHTN for 24 hours to detect the concentration of Glutathionein (GSH) and Metallothionein (MT). GSH and MT both enhanced in the low concentration AHTN exposure, and reduced in the high concentration exposure, which is first reported. The result showed that AHTN inhibited the MT production, which impacted the defence system in organism, AHTN enhanced the toxicity of contaminants indirectly by that way. MT is a more stable biomarker than GSH to indicate the AHTN contamination.
