Abstract :
The purpose of this paper is to propose a new leaky-wave antenna constructed from an image non-radiating dielectric (NRD) waveguide. A half sinusoidal source distribution, which is very long in comparison with the free-space wavelength, is realized by using a resonant phenomenon of a leaky mode near its cutoff frequency. Thus the broadside radiation with low side lobe level and high directivity can be obtained. Experimental results measured at Ku band are presented to demonstrate the effective performance of the proposed antenna.
