Abstract
Measurements of particles in liquid, such as suspension and slurry, are required in the fields of industries and environmental contamination. A shear-horizontal surface acoustic wave (SH-SAW) can work as a liquid-phase sensor. In this paper, the SH-SAW sensor is applied for detecting particles in liquid. Pigments in water paint are selected as the samples. As the SH-SAW sensor is influenced by both mechanical and electrical perturbations, a three-channel SH-SAW sensor is utilized. The experimental results indicate that the SH-SAW sensor for the electrical perturbation has high potential for detecting particles in liquid.
