Abstract
The author considers processes and materials for form wound coils in which the primary insulation system is based on impregnated mica as the dielectric. After defining key terms and comparing mica paper properties, the author examines the properties of the VPI (vacuum pressure impregnation) resin and describes a few simple screening tests. Finally, he presents some recommendations for investigators of new VPI system components
