Abstract
A high-reliability SR-UEW polyurethane wire for use in sealed relays has been developed. SR-UEW is a magnet wire that minimizes the amount of organic gas emitted by the wire insulation and uses no lubrication or oils for surface treatment, without sacrificing windability in the coiling process. Analysis of generated organic gases showed little cresolic acid, which adversely affects relay contacts, and no paraffin was detected. As a result, the life of relay contacts was greatly extended compared to that of relay contacts using the conventional product and the degassed conventional product. Specifically, this product showed a life 10 to 100 times longer than that of conventional urethane wire. The amount of gas generated over long periods is about one-fourth of that generated by the degassed conventional product
