Abstract
Primary sciatic rat nerve cells and nerve fragments can be in vitro cultured onto or into various forms of scaffolds made of benzyl ester of hyaluronan. Both isolated cells and cells outgrowing from nerve explants attach to the biomaterial, proliferate and migrate on its surface. Two cell populations are present: S-100 positive cells and fibroblast-like cells.
