Abstract :
Research in progress on the applicability of fast packet switching technology to mobile military systems for which size, weight, and power are critical is discussed. Architectural considerations are discussed, and three promising architectures are identified. Each supports output buffering and is suitable for VLSI circuit implementation with minimal internal contention. These architectures are reviewed and compared
